17 Weekend Project: Paint Swatch Wall

A little late with the weekend project post - (got a bit sidetracked with Canada Day festivities) - but I just wanted to drop in with this brilliant idea of a project I ran across earlier today from Liz ApplePaint Swatch Wall!  Liz asked her friend Kristin on her opinion on what colour to paint the wall and started pinning up paint swatches –eventually they both realized covering the wall in swatches would be so much more exciting; 7 hours (and 600+ paint chips) later and what a result!  (Sort of reminds me of our Summer Colours week final post).  Click below for the how-to:

How to:  Create the size of the space on the floor using masking tape- lay out the colour combination you're looking for - (we love the effect they made here merging colours together like the colour wheel) and then adhere to the wall with your favourite glue (depending on how permanent you want it).  Liz tells us it was in no way planned out as they were collecting the swatches. They just went to two different paint stores and took one of every single swatch they had (with the exception of browns/grays/neutrals). They didn't map out exactly how much they would need of each color, but just sort of went with it. They wanted it to cover the entire wall but when they ran out of samples, they sort of liked how it looked that way, versus the initial plan and left it. (And we agree –it's sort of like bricks that have that fallen off effect).  They attached using blue painters tape.  (Thanks Liz)!  To see more of their post about it check out Liz's blog Liz Apple!

What type of glue would you recommend? How long did the painter's tape last?

I'm so going to do this whenever I get a new app. in hopefully six months. I've already started collecting the paint strips, I don't dare to take 100s at once! :)

How do you get them to stay on the wall?
