Howdy! We just celebrated Feliz weekend here in Austin, and thought I'd pop in to share some of my snapshots from yesterday's big holiday sale at the Palm Door. The weekend also included a meet-the-makers party at West Elm on Friday evening, as well as a full day of small group workshops. Above are some of the stunning illustrations at the Sunday sale by Austin artist Linda Ketelhut.
Maura Grace Abrose from Folk Fibers, along with her husband Chap, had a beautiful display of handmade shibori pillows as well as a selection of Maura's handmade quilts. Maura makes her own dyes for her fabrics, some of them from plants she grows in her own garden.
Leah Duncan made her way home to Austin for Feliz. I'm madly in love with her new tea towels. You can see more of Leah's new fall collection in this Poppytalk post from September.
In addition to creating and producing Feliz (along with co-conspirator & talented photographer Abby Powell) Natalie Davis participated in the holiday sale, showing off her hand-tooled Canoe leather goods. Shown above is Natalie's Vortex wallet made of hand dyed goat leather. This wallet is on my Christmas list.
Austin artist and textile designer, Callen Thompson was on hand with her jewelry, prints, pillows, and scarves. I am really drawn to all the bright pinks, reds and golds in Callen's work.
Beautiful as always, here is the Paloma's Nest display. Have you seen Caroline and Jose's new holiday line yet? Also, you might recognize Caroline and Jose from their Handcrafted Consulting business, and as Business Matters contributors here on Poppytalk.
Husband and wife owners of Satchel and Sage, Morgana and Gerren Lamson brought a beautiful collection of cards, prints and textiles. I especially adore their hand stamped white-ink-on-kraft-paper gift wrap - so pretty!
Don't you just love these bow ties and neck ties from Austin's own Fox and Brie? What a great stocking stuffer!
I have been a fan of Erin Dollar's Cotton and Flax home goods for a long while now. It was so nice to finally meet Erin and see her lovely goods in person!
This amazing teepee lounge was set up by Loot Vintage Rentals, one of the Feliz sponsors. The lovely ladies from Loot also set up a charming bracelet making station.
Many thanks to Natalie and Abby for their hard work curating and organizing this wonderful event. It really was a lovely experience to have this small group talented artists, all together for one weekend of conversation, learning, and shopping. I look forward to seeing what Feliz does in the future.
