Here's a fun IKEA hack from the IKEA folks themselves at Livet Hemma. Loving these ideas for their cutting boards using leather straps and strings.
Last week I dropped off a few prints to get framed at Michael's (you can read about it here), and after picking them up over the weekend, it's now reveal time. I love them so much! I chose simple white wood and white metal frames. And because of their modern setting, I felt they didn't need matting. I haven't had time to really think where to hang them —I'm a bit afraid to punch holes into E's beautiful drywall work. So for now I lean them temporarily till we find the best place to hang them. I want to hang the print from Janis Nicolay in our dining room, but since we don't have a table or credenza yet, I've placed it on a temporary shelf I built with a couple pieces of mdf we bought to build shelves for the laundry room. And the other two that I had framed are screen prints by Australian artist, Kate Banzai. I've placed them above the piano for now, but think they will be going in our hallway once we finish painting. Let's take a look!
Weekend Almanac is a recently launched perfect-bound almanac about all the fun, creative things people do on their days off. Curated by editor Lauren Ladoceour and creative director Ali Zeigler both of the San Francisco Bay area, Lauren told us the premise behind the magazine,
"We like to think that life happens on the weekend, and we tried to pack it all in (dinner parties, road trips down California's coast, hangover cures, DIY projects) inside our pages."
The ad-free almanac is based in San Francisco and is available to buy at their online store, as well as a growing list of shops across the U.S.
A little bit about them: Ali Zeigler is a creative director from the book and magazine world (Weldon Owen, Yoga Journal, Guitar Player), and Lauren Ladoceour is a writer and editor (7x7, San Francisco magazine, Yoga Journal, The Hunt San Francisco).
How to get it.
And here's a sneak peek:

Swedish realtor, Fantastic Frank's has the best styling for a Real Estate Company doesn't it? I came across this studio via La maison d'Anna G's today and was totally pulled in. I often wonder why realtors don't do something like this concept here. Doesn't this place totally make you want to move in? This particular studio flat is located in Stockholm, click here for the listing.

It's hump day and we're already thinking about the weekend. We came across some beautiful projects this past week which I've been saving for a rainy day to share. Earl and I curated a selection of October-themed gems recently on Etsy. From an antique grape mold for baking, a gorgeous antique mirror (that I think I must have), some mad scientist goggles to the best vintage Lone Ranger mask ever! October, a month of black cats, bats and hitchcock! Click on the images above or visit our October list (in it's entirety) on Etsy here. You can also follow all of our boards HERE.
Inspired by the film, Moonrise Kingdom, the ladies at France-based blog Do It Yvette created this fun set of downloadable scout badges that can be used in a few different ways. I loved so much what they did I asked them if we could share their ideas here.
For example, you can use stickers for sealing packages of candy for a birthday, the tattoo print on paper or (my favorite) transferred onto fabric and use them as real scouts badges on a sweater, backpack or jacket (like above)! To make a sewable badge: You can print onto an iron on transfer. Print on white cloth. Then cut them out and sew onto whatever!
The folks from Projecteo, the tiny projector that lets you bring your favorite Instagrams to life are offering up a fun giveaway here on Poppytalk this week! They're offering 1 Projecteo (instagram projector) and a wheel as the top prize, along with 10 runners up get a free wheel each!!
How does Projecteo work you ask? One connects their Instagram account to the Projecteo website, and then Projecteo develops their images onto 35mm film and then they are placed into a special miniature-sized cartridge that plays on the Projecteo projector. Both the projector and the wheel of images (which kind of look like Oreo cookies) will arrive together in the mail.
To enter the contest, leave a comment below! (Anonymous or unknowns only eligible with an email). We'll choose 1 winner for the projector and 10 runners up for a wheel of images each! To enter twice, "like" Projecteo on Facebook then come back here to enter a second time. The deadline to enter Thursday, September 26 at 6pm Pacific. Good Luck!
Update: The winner of the Projecteo and cartridge is Nicki Traikos! Congrats Nicki! About a month ago or so I picked up a piece of this pink/coral wrapping paper by Rifle Paper Co. The plan at the time was to pick up a RIBBA frame from IKEA and frame it (see idea below). I hadn't had a chance yet, but hope to still do so soon. I was reminded of it this week when I came across this rather lovely project idea (above) in the October issue of House & Home. Style Editor, Stacey Smith had the idea to cover an entire wall with it and the result is stunning, don't you think? Definitely worth a mention for inspiration. Get the entire how to in the H&H October issue. Above photo by Angus Ferguson. Happy weekend!

This week after Etsy Pages launched I collected a list of some fun DIY kits and things to use to make things. Today I came across some really fun stamps (some that look like sewing machines and irons, some like cameras - and they're shaped just like their stamps)! So cute. Check them out above. or Click here to visit our page.
