Poppytalk Handmade is proud to be the original curated online marketplace or exhibition site for emerging design talent! We are the only site of its kind that has been blogging since 2005. What does that mean? It means we have the traffic to support such a site that is fair to the handmade community. Poppytalk Handmade which was launched in 2007 was created to provide an opportunity for independent artists, designers, small collectives, vintage shops and cottage industries to be seen amongst the "sea of independent shops" out there. We hand pick the cream of the crop to showcase to our site! Our combined site receives 900,000 - 1.3 Million pageloads per month. Many of our readers are magazine writers, editors, TV producers, buyers and retailers! Currently (as of Oct 2011) we have 21,040 Twitter followers (as of Feb/12).
Our readership is worldwide. Our largest group, 50% of our readers are from the U.S. alone. Followed by Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Spain, France, Netherlands, Brazil and Italy in the top ten.
We were recently written up on the Etsy blog under "Launching a New Product" - www.etsy.com/storque/how-to/etsy-success-launching-a-product-line-9449/ and were included in the November 2010 issue of InStyle Magazine in their "Best of the Web" article - read here: poppytalk.blogspot.com/2010/10/welcome-instyle-readers.html. Read more press and testimonials here.
Poppytalk Handmade is a place to "brand" your product. We've designed our site as an advertising vehicle for the indie culture. We believe it's a great way to introduce and launch new shops and/or new product lines or keep your shop name and product in the limelight.
Because of our integrity and long history online (since 2005) we have built sincere and valuable friendships and relationships with the online community that read, support and promote our site on a continuous basis. See press info here.

How does it work exactly?
You could compare us to an "arts and crafts fair" - only online we rent out a virtual table to you, and then send our high level of traffic to your online shop, be it Etsy, Dawanda, Big Cartel, etc.) You then sell directly to the buyer. Rather than a traditional ad banner you would see on sites to advertise, we provide a full page on our site filled with your products, your bio and/or company profile along with your online links including social networking links and contact information. Important: Every vendor's shop appears on the front page at all times during the exhibition.
How much does it cost?
The current fee for new sellers is $60 CAD for one month exhibition (approx. 26 days) or $2.30 per day. We also offer discounted rates for returnees:
$40/month for six months
$45/month for 3 months
$50/month if you wish to continue/return, but not commit to more than one month at a time.
There are no commissions fees or extra charges. You are able to add/change product on your page as much as you wish for your entire exhibition stay. All fees are paid through paypal.
How to submit?
Send a link of your online shop to poppytalkblog[at]yahoo.ca and specify "Poppytalk Handmade Market Submission" in the subject line. Please indicate which market(s) you are applying for. Due to the administration involved, unfortunately, only those chosen for the market will be contacted. If you have not been chosen, please feel free to email us to discuss. Thank you.
If you don't yet have an online shop but are interested in participating you can send images to us and then you will need to set up an online shop after that in order to participate with us. An easy way to set up an online shop is through sites such as Etsy, Dawanda, Big Cartel, etc.
Where do we find a link to your upcoming exhibition schedule?
Click here to read our current upcoming schedule, monthly themes and submission deadlines. Please note although all monthly exhibits are themed, not everything on your page (or virtual table) with us needs to be of that theme. You could have just a couple themed products along with other products you make/sell.
Criteria in selection?
We take great consideration to originality, quality and how the product fits into our themes, along with having a balance of categories. We also love the cutting edge and student work, so please feel free to submit!
Our Goal
We are successful when you are successful. We strive to be your best option for online curated marketplaces. The most important thing is traffic to your sites and we continue to work hard to bring the best traffic to you by offering interesting stories on our blog as well as featuring individual vendors on a daily basis. Along with online affiliations, we also advertise Poppytalk Handmade on other popular sites and in print to increase our visibility.
Please submit by emailing us here.
Thank you!
